Yes, so long to George W. Bush and so long have been the past eight years. In his final White House speech, Bush spoke about his supposed "accomplishments" and acknowledged he had experienced some "setbacks." Wow. At least he is willing to admit (even if he only has a couple of days left) a few errors, something he refused to do over the past few thousand days. Where do you begin to dissect his policies that have accomplished so much harm and devastation?
A few policies the President chose to highlight include the so-called No Child Left Behind Act, Medicare overhaul and terrorism. Yes, we haven't had any terrorist attacks on US soil, but plenty in Iraq and elsewhere around the globe. We still haven't captured Osama bin Laden, who continues to reside in Afghanistan and we tortured and imprisoned thousands of innoncent people in the name of homeland security. There are millions of children who were already left behind and millions more now left behind because of Bush's education, health and welfare policies. And, the Medicare overhaul was a fantastic deal for pharmaceutical companies but not for your grandparents.
We have a long road ahead of us to repair our country. Obama will not be able to do it alone; it will require all of our support. Learn how you can get involved with these organizations to reverse some of Bush's policies so we can really accomplish our missions!
