[/caption]Oh, my, Canada! Imagine seeing a beautiful Canadian seal resting peacefully with its pups in the frigid ice plains of Canada. Now, imagine if a seal hunter comes in and beats the seals (including the pups) to death with a bat. Pretty ugly and disturbing, eh? I don't know if these hunters have Napoleon-complexes, major insecurities or just derive sick pleasure from beating an animal to death, but it happens. And, it happens frequently. In fact, the Canadian seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals worldwide and has resulted in the death of one million animals over the past four years. Most of the pelts are sent to Europe for the so-called fashion industry. Fortunately, the European Union is moving closer towards banning the import of seal skins. What can you do as an American citizen to stop the hunt, eh? Sign the Humane Society of the US' pledge not to purchase Canadian seafood products. (a major seafood exporter is also a key player in the seal industry). Learn more and stay informed with the Humane Society. We can all breathe a sigh of relief and proudly say "eh" once the seal hunt stops forever.
